      EVENT DETAILS
      Stellar Educator Maker Camp

Looking for new and interesting ways to get your students engaged?  Or, do you just like having fun with science?  It's hard to think of a better way to rejuvenate your spirits than to attend a summer camp just for teachers.  This exciting, hands-on workshop will help K-8 teachers turn their Earth and space science units into interactive lessons for students.  Participants will learn to use tools that they will then use to make educational objects like telescopes, sunspotters, rocket launchers, and more. This is an opportunity for educators to go more in-depth with STEM topics and perhaps step outside of their comfort zones and generate some fresh new ideas that they can use back in their classrooms.  You will spend three high-energy days with like-minded educators digging deeper into MakerEd and project-based learning models to enhance your existing space/astronomy curriculum.  Lots of hands-on!  Lots of fun! And thanks to the generous support from Express Scripts, the cost of this stellar 3-day workshop is only $50!   FAQs  Who is this workshop for? This workshop is for any K-8 educator who would like to learn some new ideas and activities to use to enhance their science classes with an emphasis on space.  It is also an excellent opportunity to have fun with like-minded teachers and education professionals. Will I be able to receive continuing education credit for this workshop? You will receive a certificate at the end of the workshop period stating that you have participated in 18 hours of professional development.  No college credit is available at this time. I have never been to a Challenger Learning Center workshop before.  Do you only teach about space? No.  Although simulated space missions are our signature programs, CLC education staff have spent years working with teachers in and out of the classroom to design exciting STEAM lessons for all grade levels.  Our workshop will feature MakerEd projects that can cross over multiple disciplines. How can I contact the organizer with any questions? email: robert@clcstlouis.org; phone: (314) 521-6205 What's the refund policy? You may cancel your registration for a full refund (less the processing fee) up to 30 days before the start date.  After that, no refunds are given. Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event? No, you will not need to bring your printed ticket.  What do I need to bring? We will provide breakfast each day and lunch on the last day, but you will need to bring your own lunch on Monday and Tuesday.  Otherwise, just bring yourself (and possibly a friend or two) and come ready to have some fun.
